Had lunch in the old city of Jerusalem and walked thru the old city Market (called the Souk). The Souk is very crowded. There is the jewish section, the christian section, muslim and armenian sections. There were many twists and turns, making it maze like and you could go in a big circle and see a shop you've already seen and think it's a new shop that you haven't seen. You name it...you can find it in this market. There is everything from lovely hand carved chess sets to spices to sandals to jewelry to raw goat heads. Also, I bought a chess set (Daniel) and there were some wrong pieces and we went to go back and spent an hour trying to find the place.
Next we drove to a Bedouin Village in the desert, where we road camels, ate dinner, and slept in a bedouin tent. (Daniel and Shayna say:) The camels are hard to get on, and the ride is bumpy.
Ate
and slept in a Bedouin tent. The Bedouin community is very intriguing, they are
nomads, and the men can have up to 3 wives. We were invited to have tea with a
sheik and learn about their life. This man has 3 wives and 19 children. It is
desirable to have as many children as you can because they can help out with
the work.
