ISRAEL Sunday day 10

Today is Bob and Dolly’s 50th wedding anniversary. Our first stop out of Jerusalem was at the army base where Itsik serves as a paratrooper. We got to play with items in the backpacks (bullet proof vest, helmet with covering to disguise as a tree), saw the tanks, and the artillery. (no photos allowed obviously).

Our next stop was to pick beets for leket, the Isreali food bank.

On our way driving to the sea of galilee, we stopped at a chocolate factory where everyone enjoyed a chocolate workshop.

Celebrate Bob and Dolly’s 50th wedding anniversary at a lovely restaurant overlooking the sea of Galilee, then our own private dance party on a boat

ISRAEL sat day 9 shabbat in jerusalem

Wake up late YEAH !

Today Anne and Howard went with Carla as she got re-baptized in the Jordan River. She said it was a fascinating experience.  The rest of the group spent the morning at the pool.

Dave, Daniel and I thinking we found a ‘short cut’ to old city, stumbled up an amazing little gem – the Yemen Moshe neighborhood. It has such a nice vibe and is so gorgeous, we immediately felt like we could live there. Although it wasn’t quite a ‘short’ cut, it was a great find. Going this way, we entered the old city through the Zion gate.

We wandered thru market (called the Souk) for hours and miraculously ran into grandma and grandpa. We had a funny time bargaining with the shop owners (I bought a ring that started at 400 shekels (about $130) and ended at about 80, which is $25)

From here, we walked back to the hotel to relax, then had a delicious dinner across the street. We wanted to show grandma and grandpa Yemen Moshe, so we took a short stroll through it again.
